Since 2014, Siena Jazz has been actively engaged in incoming and outgoing Mobility within the Erasmus+ Programme for Higher Education.
Erasmus+ provides an extraordinary incentive to broaden one’s horizons, deepen one’s knowledge of a foreign language, learn about other cultures, and enjoy an extraordinary life-experience. It contributes significantly to high-level cultural education and offers better job opportunities in the future throughout Europe.
Students and recent graduates find the perfect opportunity to improve their learning performance and strengthen their career prospects, while at the same time increasing their sense of freedom, self-esteem and eagerness to actively participate in society amid an increased awareness of the European project and of the values of the European Union. The programme allows Siena Jazz students the chance to spend time abroad as part of their ongoing training, not only gaining experience in new educational realities but also exploring countries and coming into direct contact with different cultures.
As for personnel, the programme presents on the one hand an opportunity to improve their skills with the aim of having greater opportunities for professional and career development, and on the other the ability to bring about changes in terms of modernization and international openness within the teaching staff’s home Institutes as well as to improve the quality of their work and activities for the benefit of the students.

Who is it for?
All students enrolled in the three-year and two-year SJU degree courses, and all teaching and non-teaching staff who work with Siena Jazz may apply to take part in the Erasmus+ programme. All students from countries participating in the programme who want to carry out, in line with their academic studies, a period of study at Siena Jazz in the First- or Second-Level courses in jazz trumpet, jazz trombone, jazz saxophone, jazz clarinet, jazz guitar, jazz piano, jazz double bass, jazz electric bass, jazz drums, and jazz voice may also apply for incoming Mobility.
Naturally, our Institute guarantees both the educational and general quality of partner Institutes to which our students are sent.
Siena Jazz also offers deserving foreign students who wish to study according to the methodologies of our educational programmes the chance to take part in a period of study or internship at Siena Jazz. Over the last few years, thanks to the educational projects set into motion, we have been able to host a large number of students and teachers from all over the world.
The main criterion for admission to the individual Mobility programme is based on the candidate’s level and skills on the instrument, both in a solo context and within an ensemble. In addition to this, the overall performance of the candidate at the home institution will be taken into account.
Applications are evaluated by a panel made up of the Academic Director, a teacher of ensemble music, and a teacher of the relevant instrument from within our Institute.
The result and the ultimate decision communicated shall be considered incontestable.
Numbers
Siena Jazz has set itself the goal of increasing the percentage of its foreign students annually, striving also to maintain a substantial numerical balance between our own students sent to study abroad and incoming foreign students.
